Georgianna Marie
Flood Herr
November 3, 2016
On Thursday, November 3rd a very special lady gained her angel wings, Georgianna Marie Flood Herr, née Yecker, would have celebrated her 82nd birthday on November 9th. Although born and raised in Lancaster, PA she resided in Ocean View, DE for the last 20 years. Georgianna was the triplet daughter of the late George and Mary Yecker. Her triplet brother George Yecker and sister Geraldine Kirchoff pre-deceased her. She is survived by her sister Dolores Yecker of Lancaster. She is survived by her children, who can't imagine their live's without her. Son George E. Flood and wife Pam Holtwood, PA, daughter Kathleen M. Leach wife of Peter Ephrata, PA, son Michael J. Flood, Holtwood, PA and daughter Christine M. Eves and boyfriend Steve Herndon of Fishersville, VA. She was preceded in death by her sons Richard D and Michael K. Flood. She was affectionately known as "Honey" by her devoted husband of 28 years, Harold E. Herr or "Pops" ……."Mamaw" by her 18 grandchildren….Billy, Jamie, Ricky, Jackie, Nik, Mat, Daryl, Robby, Briana, Savannah, Tyler, Kristen, Ryan, Megan, Todd, Au, PuyFai, Earth and her 15 great grandchildren….Sincere, Angelica, Trinity, Wyatt, Waylon, Genevieve, Joslyn, Jayce, Jayla, Elise, Byrson, Caiden, Euro, Numyung and Alyn. Maya and Zoey will miss their Mamaw as well. She was "Georgie" to her dear friends, of which there were far too many to mention. Cherish the memories and know that you were very special to her and she loved each and every one of you. She had an excellent work ethic and was never one to sit still…..unless of course she was doing a puzzle. She loved the simplicity of jigsaw puzzles yet embraced technology and was rarely without her IPad……she could text with the best of them and even used Facebook to keep in touch with all her family and friends. She ran a personal care home for several years. She then ran an in -home daycare until all her children were grown. She began her outside career on the deburring bench at Bulova until her retirement in 1993. In retirement she worked part time for the Sussex County, DE school district as a beloved "lunch lady"….. everyone wanted to come through "Miss Georgia's" line. An excellent seamstress and avid crafter she lovingly made things for her family and friends. She had a passion for shark fishing and even earned the nickname "'Jaws" because she was so good at it. As an accomplished cook, her Sunday Breakfasts and Holiday meals were legendary. Welcoming everyone with open arms, always making room for any and all, no matter how many were already there. Her motto was " there is always room for one more " Georgie had a knack for touching the hearts of everyone she encountered. A truly selfless person who will be missed by many. Her favorite saying was "God bless their hearts" which is a testament to her care and concern for others. Sadly, it was Georgie's heart which unexpectedly took her from us. She was grateful to all her "Girls" at Ephrata Manor who took such good care of her. You each meant the world to her. There will not be a viewing per our Mothers wishes. However, a very special memorial service is being planned per her request and details will be communicated in the near future. In lieu of flowers or donations…be like "Georgie" and take an opportunity to pay it forward in honor of her memory….do something to make her smile down upon you.
