IN LOVING MEMORY OF
George W.
Stadler
January 24, 2024
George W. Stadler, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on January 24, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on May 17, 1945, in New Jersey, George was the son of the late George A. Stadler and Magdelena Bichler. He was preceded in death by his sister, Isolde Idelberger, and his daughter, Renee Armstrong.
George leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication, survived by his devoted wife, Bernice (Boots) Stadler, who shared over five decades of companionship. His loving spirit is carried on by his daughter, Shelly Overstreet (Rey Felix), sons Christian Stadler (Flora Stadler) and Andrew Stadler (Samantha Stadler), and son-in-law Paul Armstrong. George took great pride in being a grandfather to his ten grandchildren (Sara, Paige, Zack, Ben, Joey, Daley, Macon, Gabriel, Brynn and Gabe)
A graduate of Seton Hall Prep in South Orange, New Jersey, George continued his academic journey at the University of Detroit, earning a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Boots, and they married soon after in December, 1968 at St. Raymond Church in Detroit. George served his country stationed in Germany, as an active member of the US Army from 1968 to 1972, achieving the rank of Captain.
In 1973, George and his family relocated to Lancaster, PA, where he began his professional career as an engineer at Armstrong World Industries. He worked at RR Donnelley Printing from 1982 until his retirement in 2004.
A man of deep faith and commitment, George was actively involved in the St. John Neumann Catholic Church and Lancaster Catholic High School. His philanthropic spirit shone through his volunteer work with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Off the Streets, Lancaster Community Meal Program, Matthew 25 Thrift Shop, Lancaster County Food Hub, Transitional Living Center, and Tabor Community Service.
Beyond his professional and community service, George had a passion for doo-wop music, cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles, swimming at the Lancaster YMCA, boxing at Rock Steady and enjoying annual vacations at Lavallette, NJ. Above all, he found immense joy in helping others and contributing to the well-being of the community at large. George's absence leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
Friends and family will be received from 10AM to 11:30AM on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd., Lancaster, PA 17601. A Funeral Mass will follow beginning at 11:30AM. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Off The Streets at www.lancaster.offthestreetsnow.com .
