George Smith, Jr., 95, of Lancaster, PA, passed away at Lancaster General Hospital on Saturday, May 21, 2016. He was the husband of Ethel A. Everts Smith, with whom he shared 70 years of marriage this past September 17th. Born in Warriors Mark, PA, he was the son of the late George A. and Jessie Stiver Smith. George had worked as a corrections officer for 34 years at Rockview Correctional Facility. Prior to this, he had worked for 7 years for the PA Game Commission. He was an avid fox hunter and loved the outdoors. He was also a big Pittsburgh Pirates fan. George had been a member of Pine Grove Presbyterian Church. A US Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, George had served as a private first class. In addition to his wife, Ethel, he is a survived by his daughters: Georgia S. married to Robert Foltz of Duncannon, PA, and Joye Smith-Ebersole married to Greg Ebersole of Columbia; his granddaughter Jennifer Potter and his great grandchildren, Austin and Alex. He was preceded in death by his two twin daughters, Christine Marie and Ann Luise, and by his siblings: Helen Bickle, Ellsworth Smith, Joseph Smith, Mae Brobeck, and Donald Smith.
