George F. Peters, Jr, 82, of Lititz, passed away, Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at United Zion Retirement Community. He was born in Columbia, PA to the late George F. Peters, Sr. and Margaret E. (Hartman) Peters and raised by both his father, George, and late stepmother, Verna Peters. George was the husband of the late Dessie E. (Ross) Peters and the late Helga (Hinns) Walbrecht Peters.
A graduate of Columbia High School, he worked for his father-in-law at Kirchoff, Inc. in Neffsville for over 50 years. After retirement, he worked at the Lancaster County Assistance Office as an Energy Assistance Worker. George was a veteran of the US Army.
He was a member of The Worship Center, the Artisans Order of Mutual Protection and a former member of Conestoga Country Club. George had been an avid golfer, bowler and poker player.
Surviving George are his three children, Jeffrey S. Peters, husband of Dawn (Garvey), Lititz, Jennifer L. (Peters) Wiegand, companion of Jeffrey Smith, Gap, and Julia D. Peters, Las Vegas, NV; three stepchildren, Gwen Krilova, La Mesa, CA, Robert Walbrecht, husband of Tracy (Tout), Lititz, and Wayne Thompson, Altoona; five grandchildren, Shaina (Peters), wife of Gus Mozloom, Lititz, Ryan Wiegand, husband of Abbie (Abram), Lititz, Sara Walbrecht, Woburn, MA, Isabella Peters, Lititz, and Savanna Peters-Rivera, Las Vegas, NV; great granddaughter, Anastasia Mozloom, and his former wife, Rebecca Kirchoff Brown, Neffsville. George was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Kemler.
The family offers a heartfelt thank you to the staff of United Zion Retirement Community and Caring Hospice Services for their compassionate care of George.
A Celebration of George's life with Rev. Amos Dienner officiating, and Military Honors, will take place 10:30 AM Friday, August 10, 2018 at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Private interment in Habecker Mennonite Cemetery.
