George T. Kirk, 84, formerly of New York City, passed away on Thursday, July 3 ^rd at his residence in Lancaster.

He was the husband of the late Patricia M. Neff Kirk, who passed away in 1989. Born in New York City, George was the son of the late George Hugh and Grace Simcock Kirk.

George had served as a lieutenant with the Fire Department of New York, retiring in 1977 after 27 years of service. His legacy continues to this day as 2 of his sons are currently serving with the Department.

Family was very important to him and he enjoyed spending time with them.

A World War II veteran of the US Army, George served in the Pacific Theater with the 874 ^th Engineer Aviation Battalion, where he was decorated with the Purple Heart and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon.

He is survived by his 6 children: George T., Jr. married to Doreen Kirk of Staten Island, NY,  Kathleen M. married to James J. Stuart of Bethpage, NY,  Michael G. married to Donna Kirk of Brooklyn, NY,  Patricia M. Hazel of Lancaster, Timothy G. married to Susan Kirk of Lititz, and Eileen M.  married to Joseph Farrell of Locust Grove, GA; 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and his sister, Jane Ann Gillette of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Elizabeth Siegrist and Grace Vogeler, and his brother James H. Kirk.
