George E. Hershey, Jr., 84, formerly of East Petersburg, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Marietta, he was the son of the late George E. Hershey, Sr. and Margaret (Rapp) Hershey. George was the beloved husband of the late Phyllis L. (Roy) Hershey, and together they celebrated 52 years of marriage at the time of her passing in December, 2015.

George graduated from Donegal Union High School and went on to honorably serve his country with the US Army from 1953 through 1956. He worked for Donegal Steel as a furnace operator for more than 20 years, until the closing of the company. Along with his wife and son, they mastered the making of porcelain and ceramic reproduction dolls, and operated Hershey's Gift Ceramics at Root's Market and various artisan shows for over 35 years.

George is survived by his son, Randolph W. "Randy" Appley of East Petersburg. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his brother David Hershey.

A viewing will take place from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Thursday, June 20, 2019, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543, where funeral services will begin at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens, Columbia.
