IN LOVING MEMORY OF
George F.
Fiorentino
February 12, 2015
George F. Fiorentino, 88, of Lancaster, PA, joined his heavenly father in the evening of Thursday, February 12, 2015. George was the loving husband of Mary E. (Geraci) Fiorentino, and caring father to Cynthia A. (Fiorentino) Henry, wife of Michael E. Henry, of Lancaster, and George F. Fiorentino, Jr., husband of Lori D. (Brubaker) Fiorentino, of Holtwood. Born in Boston, MA, George was the son of the late George and Catherine Fiorentino. After spending several years in the Paradise School for Boys orphanage in Abbottstown, PA, at the age of 17 he joined the United States Navy, serving in World War II. He was stationed on the U.S.S. Missouri where he was present for the signing of The Japanese Instrument of Surrender in 1945. He returned to Lancaster after the war and worked at Armstrong World Industries, retiring as a supervisor in 1986. An avid golfer, George loved to spend time on the links with his friends and son. He scored two 'holes in one' in his lifetime. Still, George was happiest when spending time with family, especially his four granddaughters and great-grandson. He was an active member of St. Philip the Apostle Roman Catholic Church. Along with his wife Mary and two children, George is survived by his brother Ralph Fiorentino of Cornwall, granddaughters Sarah E. Henry of Lancaster; Megan L. (Henry) Toth, wife of Gregory J. Toth, of Plymouth Meeting; Christy R. Fiorentino and Angela S. Fiorentino, both of Holtwood, and his great-grandson Simon M. Toth. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his sister Marian Russo, brothers Joseph, John, Frank, and half-brother Tony Madonna. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA 17603 with Rev. Mark E. Weiss as Celebrant. Viewings will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA 17602 on Monday, February 16, 2015 from 6:30 to 8PM with a Rosary Service to follow, and at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 from 10 to 11AM. Interment will be in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Lancaster. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in George's Memory to The Salvation Army, 131 South Queen St., Lancaster, PA 17603 or the "Wounded Warrior Project" at www.woundedwarriorsproject.org/donate.
