Franklin M. Kreider, 90, of Willow Street, died peacefully Sunday, July 14, 2013 surrounded by his family.
Born in Lancaster on November 18, 1922, he was the son of the late Franklin and Mary (Murry) Kreider, and the husband of the late Joan (Coonan) Kreider, to whom he was married 61 years.
Frank served in the US Army Medical Corps during WWII. After discharge from the army, he joined Wyeth Laboratories and retired after 37 years of service. He built his home and raised his family on Plank Avenue in Willow Street. He was very active at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lancaster as a Eucharistic Minister and money counter. Frank had been a resident of Meadow Ridge at Willow Valley for five years. An avid Philadelphia sports fan, he also enjoyed golf, bowling, bridge, winters in Myrtle Beach and travel.
He is survived by four sons: Franklin, married to Mae Edmond Kreider; James, married to Mary Sobkowiak Kreider; Robert, married to Edie Keller Kreider; and Dick, married to Mary Mahoney Kreider; three daughters: Mary Jo, married to Gary Grove; Carol, married to Christian Wagman; and Kathleen, married to Patrick Naimoli; 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Eichelberger; and a sister-in-law, Pearl Kreider. He was preceded in death by a brother William, a brother-in-law Herbert Eichelberger, and a grandson Andrew Wagman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at historic St. Mary's Church, 119 S. Prince St., Lancaster, PA 17603 with The Rev. Leo M. Goodman, III as Celebrant. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Lancaster.
