Frances Y. "Fran" Kaufmann, 78, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 23, 2023, at home surrounded by her family. Raised in Weirton, WV, Fran was the daughter of the late Anna (Tunacik) and Stanley Yanovjak. She was the wife of the late John "Jack" Kaufmann.

Fran earned her B.S. from Ohio Valley Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse for 51 years and retired at the remarkable age of 72 from Crooked Oak Family Health.

She was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church and served as a Deacon, chair for the Giving Tree, and volunteered in the church nursery.

Fran enjoyed spending time with her family in the Outer Banks, and walking along the beach looking for sand dollars. She loved her cats and spending time in her garden.

Fran was the kindest and most giving person and she would not hesitate to help others in need. She was always present to offer an ear, advice, or a warm hug often putting others first while battling cancer for 15 years. Full of care, love and empathy, Fran was a great wife, mother and Nana and her benevolent personality shined through to her patients even on her darkest days. Her distinct character and personality is impossible to replicate, truly making her irreplaceable.

She is survived by her daughters: Kristen wife of John "Jay" Hicks and son Ebon, of Oxford; Carol Kaufmann and children Alicia and Kayla Melendez and Riley and Teagan Rittenhouse, of Lancaster; Catherine wife of Brandon Kendig and children Jordyn, Wesley, Paige, and Alexis Kendig, of Conestoga; and Karen Kaufmann of Lancaster.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Pet Pantry ( www.petpantrylc.org ) or the Susan G. Komen Foundation ( www.komen.org ).

The family will receive guests for a viewing from 6 PM to 8 PM on Friday, October 27, 2023, at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, located at 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Highland Presbyterian Church, 500 E. Roseville Road, Lancaster, PA 17601. Family and friends are invited to arrive at 10 AM for a time of greeting before the service. Interment will be a private ceremony at Landis Valley Cemetery.
