IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ezra Klay
Zook
November 4, 2023
Ezra Klay Zook, the precious and beautiful son of Zachary and Meghan (Brady) Zook was welcomed into Jesus' arms on November 4, 2023, in Hershey, Pennsylvania. He was born in Harrisburg on June 25, 2022. For the past six months, he courageously and relentlessly fought leukemia. He was full of radiant joy, humor, and life and always had a smile, regardless of the treatments and cancer he had to endure. He touched the lives of everyone he encountered, especially at Penn State Health Children's Hospital in Hershey where he was treated.
His mommy and daddy loved him with all their hearts, and he loved and adored them with every ounce of his being. He loved to laugh, he loved music, books, Moana, basketball, drums, his tambourine, his train track and cars, his little red sports car, his kitty Karkour, his Swoop, and his lion stuffy. Ezzy was the strongest, bravest little boy ever, fighting this disease with the courage of the lions he adored. He enjoyed everything outside including picnics with mom and dad, bike rides, leaves, walks at the hospital and along the Susquehanna, and visits to Lake Tobias and ZooAmerica. He made us all better people and continues to inspire us. His family and friends will miss him deeply for the rest of our lives.
In addition to his parents, Ezra is survived by his grandparents Gordon and Carol (Leaman) Zook of Willow Street, and Debbie (Overly) Brady and Dustin Albright of Trout Creek, Montana, great-grandparents Norman and Arlene Leaman of Lancaster, Fay and Juanita Zook of Lake Odessa, Michigan, Betty Shumaker of Mount Joy, uncles and aunts Jeremy and Becky Zook, Crystal Zook, Daniel and Sophia Zook, Abbey and Marty Messer, cousins Autumn and Calder Messer, and many other members of his extended family and friends around the world. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Paul Brady, great-grandparents Betty and John Overly, Paul Brady, and his cousin Damian Zook.
We want to thank the staff at the Penn State Health Children's Hospital for their wonderful care for him. With their smiles, encouragement, and tireless efforts the doctors, nurses, and other staff did everything they could to restore him to health and to make him comfortable during this difficult journey.
A Celebration of Life service for Ezra will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at James Street Mennonite Church, 323 W. James Street, Lancaster, PA at 1:30 p.m. with visitation beginning at 12:30. Interment will follow at Strasburg Mennonite Cemetery.
