Evelyn Marie Mellinger "Sue", 84, of Lititz, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026, at Luthercare, Lititz. Sue was born on August 8th, 1941, in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Richard M. Reese and Evelyn E. Havercamp Reese.

Sue graduated from McCaskey High School in 1959. Her career included working for Armstrong World Industries and for High Industries, retiring in 2003. One of her proudest achievements was being selected "Woman of the Year" by the American Business Women's Association in 1983.

Sue was baptized as an adult and was proud of her faith attending St. Paul's Church, Lititz, St Peter's Church, Neffsville, and the Luther Acre Chapel in later years. She traveled to all 50 States, Canada and Europe and enjoyed making photo albums of her travels. She was an amazing baker and during the Christmas season would bake hundreds of cookies and give them away to family, friends and coworkers. Sue enjoyed gardening, decorating, and all kinds of "crafting". She loved 50's music, attending Lititz events, peanut butter long johns and a simple cup of tea.

During retirement, she enjoyed tracing her ancestry and spending more time with her family both here and in Connecticut. Sue adored her grandchildren and could be spotted on the Amtrak on her way to visit them with her suitcase full of gifts and Lancaster County goodies!

Losing our Mom as a "friend" and supporter when her dementia progressed left us heartbroken. The family would like to thank the Luthercare nurses and staff for their extraordinary patience and personal care in the last few years of her life especially during the uncertain times of the pandemic.

She is survived by her children, Jeffrey D. Mellinger, Lititz and Connie S. Herr, Lititz. Her grandson Cody Herr (Laura) Winter Park, FL and their daughter Penelope. Her granddaughter Maddie S. Herr, Tampa, FL. Sue's sister Diane L. Reese, Lancaster. Sue's brothers, Richard M. Reese Jr., Robert K. Reese and Donald C. Reese all preceded her in death.

Memorial Services for Sue will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in her memory be made to Hospice & Community Care , PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.
