Obituary

Evelyn Grace Jackson was born November 26, 2019, in West Burlington, Iowa. Right away, it was clear that she adored her sister and that she would be a child who would take life in stride. At 20 months old, Evelyn was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer called neuroblastoma. Seeking the very best treatment and a chance of survival, her family moved to Pennsylvania for her care.

Evelyn moved through treatment with charming dignity and lived up to her name, Grace, giving us more time than we deserved. Peppa Pig and princesses were her sidekicks throughout, as her family, nurses, and doctors cheered her on. She benefited from the best that medicine and humanity had to offer at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. After three years of grueling treatment, she is finally able to rest. Evelyn will forever be 4, passing away on June 1, 2024, after spending peaceful last days with her parents, siblings, and favorite nurses. She is survived by her parents, Adam and Lindsay Jackson, siblings Ellie and Gus, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many admirers.

Evelyn will be remembered for her perfect aesthetic – pulling together bucket hats, sunglasses, purses, tutus, tall socks, sparkly shoes, and her brilliant smile for a signature look. She accepted everyone, even finding a place in her heart for the villainous and spooky. Evelyn loved to be silly and used laughter and dance to get through every rude interruption cancer hurled into her childhood. At the same time, she held a maturity that surpassed her age. Willing to face the hard and determined to join the fun, Evelyn had a disposition that we still strive to match.

Her sweet "I wuv you" still echoes.

A memorial reflecting Evelyn's great taste will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024. A casual ceremony at 4:00 pm will be followed by a party at Manheim Township Community Park, 209 Petersburg Rd, Lancaster, PA. Inclement weather will allow for jumping in muddy puddles.

Treatment in Philadelphia gave Evelyn time and quality of life. Donations in Evelyn's name can be made to the people that made this possible in the Mossé Laboratory at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia: https://chop.donordrive.com/campaign/Evelyn-Jackson-Neuroblastoma-Research
