Obituary

Evelyn Hildebrand, a resident of Lancashire Hall, entered her heavenly home on January 17, 2018. Born in Mahanoy City, PA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary A. (Jackson) Hildebrand. Evelyn attended Mahanoy Township Schools until she became disabled, and then was home schooled. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church-Christ in Mahanoy City, PA. Being in a wheelchair from her teenage years and later becoming totally dependent never dampened her spirit, she had a ready smile for everyone and a loving heart. Her strong faith in the Lord carried her through her journey and was an inspiration to so many others. Life in a nursing home provided many challenges, but also many more outlets for friends and recreation activities. Evelyn loved church services, hymn sings, music programs, bingo and mall trips. Several times she was selected as "Volunteer of the Year" at her homes. She was praised by aides and families for being a good listener, allowing them to share their personal and family problems. Evelyn is survived by her devoted sister, Mary "Jean" Elser (Jeff) of Lititz; nieces Deborah Burkhardt (Joel), Kelly Allison (Matt), Soosie Ambrose (Dave) and Renee; nephew Jeffrey; and many cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Susan Rupert. Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services which will be held at 11 AM Monday, January 22, 2018 at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543, with Pastor Perry Kile officiating. Her family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM at the funeral home. Interment will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 23, at Sky-View Memorial Park, 108 Lafayette Ave., Tamaqua, PA. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Paul's United Church-Christ, 20 West Pine St., Mahanoy City, PA, 17948, or to the National Multiple Sclerosis society at www.nationalmssociety.org.

Her sister Jean wishes to thank the Wilmac Corp. for providing Evelyn with a home for the past 30 years at both the Attleboro Home in Langhorne and at Lancashire Hall. Also many thanks to the many caring staff, nurses and aides who helped her through those many years. Angels are everywhere.
