Eugene W. Malcolm, Jr., 81, passed away at his Strasburg Township home on Friday, January 10, 2025. Married to his Lampeter-Strasburg High School Class of 1961 sweetheart, Nancy V. (Landis) Malcolm, Gene and Nancy would have celebrated 64 years of marriage in March.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Eugene W. Malcolm, Sr., and Virginia I. (Malaby) Malcolm. Gene worked as a horse trainer for 13 years. He then worked for Hamilton Precision Metals as a machine operator until his retirement.

Gene was a family man who was incredibly dedicated to his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed trips to the beach and weekends at the family cabin in Mifflintown. Through the years, Gene and Nancy enjoyed traveling the United States and Europe. When not traveling, both could be found attending the various activities of their seven grandchildren or watching their favorite Philadelphia sports teams. Having a great sense of humor, Gene provided his family with endless laughter and many memorable "comments." At the same time, anyone could turn to him for sound advice and a bit of life wisdom.

Gene was an active member of St. Michael's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Strasburg where he served as Treasurer for many years.

In addition to Nancy, Gene's family includes their son Eugene W. Malcolm, III, husband of Leslie (Kratzer) of Lancaster, daughter Diane V. (Malcolm) Cunningham, wife of Brian of Wellsboro, son, Michael S. Malcolm, husband of Brenda (Smoker) of Strasburg; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Mackenzie (wife of Logan Wagner), Leyton, Riley, Makayla, Madison, and Kate; and his sister Barbara Mortimer of Philadelphia. Daughter Deborah L. Malcolm preceded Gene in death in 1991.

A private service was held for Gene.
