Eugene C. "Gene" Smigocki, 86, of Exton, passed away, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, December 10, 2016. Born in Dickson City, PA Gene was the son of the late Steven and Harriett (Shorts) Smiegocki. On April 27, 1957, Gene married the love of his life, Else (Gram) Smigocki, with whom he recently celebrated 59 years of marriage. After graduating high school, Gene enlisted in the US Navy and proudly served as in ordnance on an aircraft carrier. Following his honorable discharge, Gene went on to complete his undergraduate studies from Penn State University and his graduate studies Drexel University. After graduation, he went to work for Campbells Soup, retiring as the International Director of Finance. Gene loved to travel around the world with Else. He enjoyed watching his beloved Nittany Lions and Philadelphia Eagles. He and Else also were avid learners, attending countless college lectures. In addition to his wife, Gene leaves behind his children: Carol Olivieri (Dave), of Alpharetta Georgia and son, Dr. Gene C. Smigocki of Lancaster; 3 grandchildren: Rick Vermeil of Erie, Colorado, Kelly Berry of Ball Ground, Georgia and Anthony Olivieri of Alpharetta, Georgia. Gene was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Snowden. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
