Eugene J. Gaddis, Sr., 85, of Oxford, passed away peacefully at Ware Presbyterian Village, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Nashville, TN, Eugene was the son of the late Edd and Arizonia (Miller) Gaddis. He was the loving husband of the late Adeline (Wagner) Gaddis. Always the entrepreneur, Eugene was a beekeeper who operated his own farm. He was also assisted in opening graves at St. Mary's and St. Anthony's Catholic Cemeteries. Eugene was of the Catholic Faith and was a parishioner at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Lancaster. He loved music and even composed his own pieces including, "Manna" and his final composition, "The Universe." Eugene is survived by his children: Jean Marie Smith; Theresa Ann Gaddis; Mark Anthony Gaddis; and Eugene Joseph Gaddis, Jr. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Family and friends will be received from 6PM to 8PM, Monday, March 18, 2019 at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA 17602. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM, Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602. A viewing will be held at the church 1 hour prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Eugene's name may be made to the Lancaster Beekeepers Society, 322 Kelly Ave., Mt. Joy, PA 17552.
