Obituary

Etta Jean Bishop, 83, of Lancaster, PA died Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Brethren Village. Born on August 13, 1931 in Coatesville, PA she was a daughter of the late Russell and Emma (Blevins) Bishop. Etta was a 1949 graduate of Oxford High School and graduated in 1956 from the Wilmington General Hospital School of Nursing. She was a RN with the Brethren Village from 1989 until her retirement in 1994. Etta was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church where she volunteered and established a grief support network. She also enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and will be remembered for her compassion, smile and sense of humor. She is survived by her sister Eva V. Bishop of Lancaster, PA; a niece Lois Maxson wife of Randy of Winona Lake, IN; a nephew Kerry Rapp of Myerstown, PA; five great-nieces Heidi wife of Aaron Christner, Laura wife of John Robertson, Holly Richmond, Kara wife of Patrick McKinney, Emmalee Rapp; a great-nephew Benjamin Maxson and brother-in-law Dane Rapp. Etta was preceded in death by a sister Ruby E. Rapp. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 10:30AM at the Chapel of Brethren Village, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the Funeral Service from 9:30-10:30AM. Interment will be held at the convenience of her family.
