IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Esther I.
Weidler
February 19, 2017
Esther I. Weidler, 90, a former longtime Lititz resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Fairmount Homes Retirement Community, on Sunday, February 19, 2017. She was the wife of the late Roy E. Weidler, who passed away on Sept. 2, 2015. Born in Lititz, she was the daughter of the late Jacob U. and Edna M. (Young) Ditzler. Prior to becoming a Grandmother, Esther worked for several years at both the Hubley Toy Co. and Wilbur Chocolate. As a women of God, she loved Jesus and enjoyed singing hymns. One of her favorites was "The Old Rugged Cross". She was a member of Dove Westgate Church. Esther adored her husband and the 70 years they spend together. In their younger years they danced in competitions and sang in a church choir. In their later years, they were still known to take up the dance floor to do "The Twist"! Esther loved her family and cherished spending time with them. She enjoyed taking her family hiking, to parks, swimming, petting zoos, out for ice cream, and summer vacations to White Crystal Beach and Ocean City MD. She also enjoyed gardening, bird watching, painting ceramics, reading the Bible, making kids smile, and most recently coloring. Esther was known to be a jokester, making others laugh with her great sense of humor. Being a very special lady, with open arms and a big heart, she touched the lives of many and is loved dearly. Surviving Esther are her 4 children: Roy L. Weidler, husband of Linda of Potter County, Nevin E. Weidler, husband of Lori, Brenda K. Mateyak, wife of Stephen, and Tina M. Weidler, all of Ephrata; 5 grandchildren: Shay Salat, Toby Sellers, Tanya Perry, Denise Calhoun and Daryl Calhoun; 6 great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Javin and Faith Perry, Madison Calhoun, and Tara and Kayla Long. She is also survived by her brother, Irvin Ditzler of East Petersburg. She was preceded in death by 10 siblings.
