Ether M. Guiles, 79, of Manheim Twp., died Sunday March 9, 2014, at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy. She was born in Lancaster to the late Arthur and Ruth Degler Hammel. Esther was married to Glenn G. Guiles for 50 years.

She worked as a secretary for Community Hospital of Lancaster for 30 years and was a hostess and waitress at various restaurants, including Mazzi's. Esther was a member of Conestoga Country Club and she was an avid Philadelphia sports fan.

Surviving in addition to her husband Glenn are two sons, A. Michael Evans, husband of Aggie of Lancaster and Christopher J. Guiles, husband of Laurel of Seattle, WA, a grandson Justin Evans and her twin sister Ruth Homsher of Lancaster. Esther was preceded in death by her brother Arthur Hammel.
