Enid Hirsch, 82, passed away at her Manheim Township home on Friday, May 27, 2016. She was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Louis and Yetta (Mandell) Aaron. Enid was the loving wife of Dr. Irwin L. Hirsch for 61years.
She graduated from Jefferson High School and attended Brooklyn College. Enid first worked as a legal secretary, then as a secretary for F & M College and last in the administrative office of The New School, Lancaster.
Enid was a very loving and dedicated matriarch to her family, who will be greatly missed. She loved family gatherings and spending time with her grandkids. An excellent cook, she was known for her Jewish cooking. Enid and Irwin spent half of the year at the family home in Carlsbad, CA.
She was a member of Temple Beth El, Temple Beth El Sisterhood and Hadassah. Enid volunteered with the St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary. She loved to play golf and tennis earlier in life, and she enjoyed knitting.
In addition to her husband Irwin, Enid is survived by their three sons: Steven Hirsch, husband of Terri of Brea, CA, Eric Hirsch, husband of Rachel of Fanwood, NJ and Dr. Lorin Hirsch, husband of Renae of Lancaster; daughter-in-law Patricia Hirsch of Cincinnati, OH and 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons. Enid was preceded in death by her son Michael Hirsch and her sisters Rita Hertz and Judy Gold.
Funeral Services will take place 1:00 PM May 29, 2016 at Temple Beth El, 1836 Rohrerstown Road, Lancaster, PA 17601. Interment will follow at Beth El Cemetery, Lititz. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made in Enid's memory to Hadassah or Temple Beth El Sisterhood or the American Cancer Society.
