Emma Mae Deen, 81, of Mountville, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at Mennonite Home. Born in Lancaster, Emma Mae was the daughter of the late William G. and Margaret M. (Dickel) Martin. She was married to the late Donald S. Deen, who died in 1999.
Emma Mae's grandfather, Ezra Martin, was the owner of Martin Meats, located on Old Lincoln Highway East in Bridgeport. As a small child, she worked with her father and grandfather, delivering meats to customers. A former employee of Hamilton Watch and RCA, Mae was also an Avon sales representative for thirty years. As an Avon representative, Mae achieved President's Club membership for excellence in sales for twenty-five consecutive years.
Mae enjoyed traveling and camping with her husband. She and her husband, Don, traveled the entire continental United States by motorcycle. Mae loved spending time with her family and friends at the Delaware shores.
Mae was of the catholic faith.
Emma Mae is survived by her children, Linda L. Lobaugh of Lancaster, Jessica M. Nace, wife of Ralph "Gene", of Columbia, Molly M. Sheckard, wife of Scott, of Lancaster, William J. "Bill" Chalfant, husband of Krista, of Millersville, and Lynda "Nip" Daveler, wife of John, of Willow Street, 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and sister, Margaret L. "Peggy" Miller, wife of Robert, of Mount Joy. In addition to her husband and parents, Emma was preceded in death by three brothers, William, James, and Ezra.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at 1PM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA 17602 (717-393-9661) with Rev. Peter Hahn officiating. A viewing will be held from 11 AM until 1 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.
