Elvin W. Dunkle, Jr., 78, of Elizabethtown, died on December 25, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Verna and Elvin W. Dunkle, Sr. A Veteran, he served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Elvin retired from foundry work with Safe Hardware Division. He was an active member of Covenant United Methodist Church, Lancaster City and attended all church functions. He also went caroling during Christmas with fellow church members. Elvin was a very knowledgeable person. He shared knowledge of geology and science. Elvin had a vast collection of rifles and swords. He enjoyed watching Sci-Fi, especially Star Trek. He loved music and helped to record music for The Couriers Band here in Lancaster. Surviving is a nephew, William Baker, husband of Melissa, Elizabethtown; and a niece, Wendy Heiner. He is preceded in death by a sister, Erma Baker, and a brother-in-law, William A. Baker, Sr. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, January 5th at 2:00pm at Covenant United Methodist Church 110 N. Mulberry St. Lancaster, PA 17603. Memorial contributions can be made directly to Melissa and William Baker or to Lancaster Red Rose Credit Union 1010 New Holland Ave, Lancaster, PA 17601 to the account of Elvin Dunkle. These contributions will go toward funeral expenses.
