Elvia Rivera, 94, passed away at her Lititz home on Saturday, July 13, 2024, with her loving family by her side.
She was born in El Progreso, Honduras, daughter of the late Armindo Rivera and Luisa Hernandez. Elvia's husband, Moises Garcia, passed away in 1980.
Elvia was a self-employed seamstress. She was a parishioner at San Juan Bautista Catholic Church. She enjoyed knitting, taking care of her garden, traveling home to Honduras, listening to bolero music, and reading about History.
Elvia's family includes nine children: Reyna Garcia, wife of the late Ernesto Garcia, Orlando Erazo (deceased), Martha Aguilar, wife of Ricardo Aguilar, Astrid Garcia, Maria Rivera, Luisa Bolaños, wife of the late Juan Jose Bolaños, Lourdes Rivera, wife of Jose Angel Rodriguez, Elvia Ramirez, wife of Hector Ramirez, Ivan Rosales, husband of Ana Sauceda, and the girl she raised, Adelina Mejia; 23 grandchildren: Vilma, Diana, Carlos, Siria, Gustavo, Eimy, Ricky, Abe, Arles, Arlin, Ivan, Astrid, Jose Miguel, Jose Moises, Jose Luis, Isaac, Paul, Giselle, Ariel, Denisse, Jayleen, Josue, and Horacio; 29 great-grandchildren: Axel, Paola, Allan, Emilio, Luis, Daniel, Moises, Valeria, Claudio, Amanda, Camila, Zoe, Belen, Nicolas, Tomas, Gianna, Giselle, Gabriela, Valentina, Sebastian, Juan Diego, Seth Javier, Ally Elizabeth, Jaslyn, Gabriel, Jason, Talia, Santiago, and Mia; great-grandson Andre; her sister Consuelo Hernandez and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Elvia was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Salvador Rivera, Moises Rivera, and Napoleon Rivera, and her sister Eva Rivera.
A viewing will take place from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543.
Another viewing will take place from 9:15 to 10:15 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:15 AM with The Rev. Brian T. Olkowski as Celebrant, on Friday, July 19, 2024, at San Juan Bautista Catholic Church, 425 S. Duke Street, Lancaster, PA 17602. Interment in Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery.
