Elsie L. Nuechterlein passed away in her sleep recently at Homestead Village retirement community at the age of 99. She was born in Atwood, Kansas to John and Emma Schiessler. She grew up in Atwood, Kansas and Englewood, Colorado. She graduated from Englewood High School in 1943.

Elsie was married to Melvin H. Nuechterlein in 1946 until his death in 2007. She was predeceased by both her parents and her brother, Marvin and her sister, Elaine.

Elsie was employed as a secretary for 25 years by Millburn New Jersey Public Schools from which she retired in 1990.

Elsie and Mel traveled all over the United States and the world. She enjoyed gardening and reading. After living in New Jersey for over 50 years, Elsie and Mel moved to Homestead Village in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 2004. They joined Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Lititz in 2005.

In accordance with Elsie's wishes, a cremation and interment will take place at Mount Calvary on January 12th, 2026.

Surviving are her three sons: David, Robert and James Nuechterlein; her daughter Jean Larson; and her eight grandchildren: Anne, Ryan, Matthew, and Christopher Nuechterlein, Lauren Louis, Kelly Reece, and Christine and Katherine Larson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Lititz, PA or to Homestead Village, Lancaster, PA.
