Obituary

Elsie R. Houser, 96, formerly of Lampeter, died at Landis Homes on Tuesday, April 3, 2018. She was the wife of the late J. Wilbur Houser, who died in 1992.

She was a homemaker.

Elsie was a member of Willow Street Mennonite Church for over 74 years, where she taught Bible School and was active with the sewing circle.

She was President of the former Lampeter Fire Company No. 1 Ladies Auxiliary and Chairperson of the Restaurant Committee of the West Lampeter Community Fair.

Born in Paradise Township, she was the daughter of the late Elmer U. and Ada (Ranck) Stoltzfus. Elsie is survived by four sons, James W. married to Ruth (Nauman) Houser of Lampeter, J. William married to Judy (Miller) Houser of Hershey, Thomas E. married to Brenda (Smoker) Houser of Lowville, NY and Dwight R. married to Anna (Charles) Houser of Glenfield, NY; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Gladys S. Graybill and Melvin R. Stoltzfus.

There will be a viewing on Sunday, April 8, 2018 from 6 until 8 PM in the West Bethany Chapel at Landis Homes, 1001 East Oregon Road, Lititz, PA and again on Monday, April 9 from 10 until 11 AM in the Willow Street Mennonite Church, Hans Herr Drive and Penn Grant Roads, Willow Street, PA. The funeral is 11 AM in the church with Pastor Joe Shearer and Pastor Bob Breneman officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
