Elsie S. Benner, 81, of Lancaster, died Friday, June 1, 2012, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late George and Lena Strimmel Miller. Her husband of 54 years Charles E. "Jim" Benner died in 2003.

Elsie graduated from J. P. McCaskey High School. She worked for Macke Company and then for Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology. A handywoman, she enjoyed home improvement projects and crafts.  Elsie loved her pets and loved being outdoors walking, fishing, camping and going to the beach.

Surviving are her daughters,Terry Benner, Lancaster, and Debra A., wife of Gerald A. Nau, Reading, her grandchildren Justin Benner and Morgan Nau, nine great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren, and her siblings George Miller, Janet, wife of Harry Musselman, Norman, husband of Beverly Miller and Myrtle Habecker.  Elsie was predeceased by four siblings.

A visitation will take place 10 to 10:30 AM Thursday, June 7, 2012, followed by the funeral at 10:30 AM, with The Rev. Janice Marie E. Lowden officiating, at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA. Interment in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery.
