Elizabeth "Betty" Sawyer, 94, of Brethren Village passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, November 26, 2016. Born in Sanford, FL she was the daughter of Madison and Stella (Mettler) Wade. She had two brothers, Madison and John, both deceased. She was the loving wife of Philip O. Sawyer, now deceased.

After graduating high school, Betty worked as a business receptionist in Knoxville, TN. She was a homemaker and enjoyed many hobbies. Her interests included travel, gardening, sewing, knitting, bird watching and numerous handicrafts. She also had a special fondness for Mexican art and made numerous trips to Mexico when she lived in Texas for a few years.

She is survived by her children: daughter, Linda Zuccarello, wife of Albert of West Chester, PA; son, Howard P. Henson of New York, New York, son, Keith O. Sawyer of Boiling Springs Lake, NC and daughter, Irene Earl of Middletown, OH. Also surviving are three grandchildren: Michelle Simon wife of Jim of Lancaster, Ashley Hickman wife of Wesley of Leland, NC, and Jake Earl; three great-grandchildren, Katherine and Lindsey Simon and Will Hickman. A private memorial service will be held at the home of Michelle Simon on Dec. 10th.
