Obituary

Elizabeth "Libby" Diffenbaugh, 90, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Providence Place in Lancaster.

Born in Windber, PA, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Dorothy (Reed) Younker. She was the wife of William R. (Bill) Diffenbaugh. They celebrated 65 years of marriage on June 10th. After graduating, Libby moved to Lancaster in search of a job. She found work at Hubley Toys and met her future husband, Bill. After having their children, she started an enjoyable 47-year career at Weis Markets, starting at Manor Shopping Center and ending at the Stony Battery location.

Libby cherished her time with family and friends and could always be found in the crowd cheering on her children and grandchildren during their sporting events and other activities. She looked forward to her adventures with a group of girlfriends known as the "Jolly Bells". In her younger years, she spent time riding with Bill on their Harley Davidson. Their summer family vacations included trips back to Windber to spend time with relatives. She enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, crosswords, and word searches. Libby was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Bill, husband of Brenda, and Dave, husband of Kim; five grandchildren, Alexandria, companion of Mike Foster, Justin, husband of Kayla, Grant, companion of Karlyn Cassidy, Garrett, companion of Shannon Durkin, and Jenna, companion of Dominic Ortiz; and six great-grandchildren, Kaden, Declan, Hadley, Rowan, Harper and Fallon, all of Lancaster. She is also survived by one sister, Joy Greubel and a sister-in-law, Janet Younker, both of Windber. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Gerald Younker and Ronald Younker, her sister, Maxine Plunkett and her grandson, Shawn Diffenbaugh.

Libby's family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Providence Place for the care they provided to her.

To honor Libby's wishes, there will be no funeral service.
