Obituary

Elizabeth G. Carello, whose generous, strong and serene spirit guided her family, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2008,  at the Mennonite Home. Formerly of  East Frederick St., "Lizzie" was 90 years old.

Beloved wife of the late Samuel S. Carello; beloved and devoted mother of  Elizabeth A. wife of  Anthony S. Vulopas, the late James Joseph Carello and Barbara A. Straub; cherished "Nan" of  Sam, Tony and Joe Vulopas, Ashley Betancourt (her "one and only") and the late Ryan Carello.  She is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren and one sister, Catherine Lombardo. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent J. Martello and Angeline (Sinopoli) Martello, one great-granddaughter, Quiomara Carello, two brothers, Joseph and James Martello and one sister, Mary Carello.

She was born in Lancaster, PA, and was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church and Happy Hearts Senior Citizens Group.  Lizzie, a candy maker for Frantz's and Keppel's candy companies, enjoyed bingo, word searches and spending time with her family, who will miss her dearly and carry the threads of love she quilted for them.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 929 N. Duke St., Lancaster, PA on Thursday, October 23, 2008 at 11 AM with Rev. Norman Hohenwarter as celebrant.  Interment will be held in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery, Lancaster, PA.  A viewing will be held at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E.
