Elizabeth F. "Bette" Brown, 85, died February 3, 2007 at St. Anne's Retirement Community after a long illness.
Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Harry W. Dorwart and Margaret E. Resh Dorwart VonStetten, and the step daughter of John A. Von Stetten. She was the wife of the late Harry D. Brown, Jr. who died in 1990. They celebrated 47 years of marriage.
Mrs. Brown retired in 1983 after 21 years as a receptionist- secretary from the office of Dr. Beryl Sherman, Orthodontist. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church since 1946 and active on the bereavement and bingo committees. She was an Auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary. In earlier years she was active in the Mother's Club Activities. She was a 1940 Graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School.
Surviving are three daughters, Barbara Ann, married to Gary L. Bishop, Lancaster, Janice E., married to Barry Sangrey, Lititz, Diane E., married to Michael M. Little, London, Arkansas, a son, David T., married to Deborah Hilt Brown, Lancaster, 10 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren, three sisters, Mildred C. Parker, Lancaster, Margaret Rose Bisking, Lancaster, and Mary Ann Carroll, Florida, and two brothers, Henry W. Dorwart, Lancaster and David E. Dorwart, York, and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anne's Retirement Community Chapel, 3952 Columbia Ave., on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at 11AM. Friends may be received from 10AM until the time of service. Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bette's memory to St. Anne's Retirement Community or Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604. Arrangements by the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Chapel, Lititz.
