Elizabeth A. Boyer, 88, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on, Tuesday, February 26th, 2019 at home surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of the late Sherman E. Boyer with whom she shared 40 years of marriage. Born in Lancaster, she was a daughter to the late John SS and Emma Dora (Wilson) Hill. She was a 1948 graduate of J.P. McCaskey H.S. After high school she worked for RCA and later for Kerr Glass Manufacturing as a foreperson. She would later attend Palmer Business School and graduate #1 in her class at the age of 57. Upon graduation she accepted a secretarial position at Boys Scouts of America where she retired from in 1995. She was an active member and volunteer of Bethel A.M.E. Church, where she was part of the Junior Choir, Usher Board, Chancel and Women's Choirs and most currently the Voices of Praise Choir. She was also a part of the Trustee Board, Lay Organization President, and sat on the finance council. She was a previous member of the Church Women United of Lancaster and committee member of the Site Base Management for Lancaster School District. Elizabeth was active in the Democratic Party and spent time at the polling sites registering black voters prior to election day. She spent her free time sewing, crocheting, reading and baking. Her most favorite thing of all was to watch Judge show's on TV. She was a great Mom and Nanny who loved and supported her entire family. She is survived by a daughter, Suzanne Thomas and her husband, Randall; a step son, Sherman McDowell; grandchildren: Lawrence L. Hill, Ondra L. Haywood and her husband, Scott; great granddaughter, Daisha M. Hill; great great grandson, Amir Jeremiah Myers; three sisters: Doris H. Johnson, Margaret M. Hill and Adele A. Reed and her husband, Frederick and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by two brothers: John SS Hill, Jr. and Charles F. Hill. There will be a viewings on Friday, March 1 from 6-8pm and on Monday, March 2 from 9 am until 10 am at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Lancaster. Services will take place on Saturday, March 2 at 10 am at the church. Burial will follow at Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery in Lancaster.
