Obituary

Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Scheuchenzuber, 91 of Lancaster passed away on Friday, January 22, 2016 at the home of her daughter Elizabeth McClure. She was under the care of Hospice. Born November 21, 1924 in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Harlan J. Weidman and Susan (Birk) Weidman. She was married to the late Louis J. Scheuchenzuber for 56 years. She attended Penn Manor High School. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She had a heart of gold and was always willing to help others. She loved to read, play pinochle, work in her yard and spend time with her family. She was also an avid fan of Notre Dame Football. She and her late husband Louie owned and operated L & B Grocery Store on Cabbage Hill for 23 years. She also worked at the 8th Ward election polls in Lancaster for 12 years. Betty was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for 70 years. Surviving are four children, Elizabeth Jane married to Robert G. McClure of Lancaster, Rosemary L. married to Vincent C. Rineer, Jr. of Columbia, Louis J. Scheuchenzuber married to Marilyn Looney of Lewisburg, TN and JoAnn married to Edmund Jones of Columbia. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and eighteen grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers Henry J. Weidman and Ronald "Sam" Weidman and a sister Doris Shyver. She was preceded in death by two beloved grandsons, Michael A. Jones and Creighton J. Scheuchenzuber; four brothers, Arthur Weidman, Kenneth Weidman, Nelson Weidman and Arthur J. Weidman and two sisters, Christine Weidman and Amelia (Weidman) Wolpert. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12Noon on Monday, February 1, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph St, Lancaster, PA 17603 with Rev. Allan F. Wolfe as Celebrant. Friends will be received two hours prior to the mass at the church on Monday. Interment at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers. Memorial remembrances can made in Betty's memory to St. Joseph Catholic Church Restoration Fund at the above address.
