Eleanor M. Nimick, 95, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 12, 2018 with her family by her side under the care of Masonic Village Hospice. She was the loving wife of the late Edmund J. Nimick, Sr. with whom she shared 69 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia she was a daughter of the late Albert J. and Helen S. (Lindsay) Deissroth, and sister of the late Albert W Deissroth. A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Eleanor was the epitome of family. She was known for her outstanding baking abilities and hosting family and friends for holiday meals. When her children were young she acted as a leader to her daughter's Brownie Troop. She volunteered at St Joseph Hospital Gift Shop for thirty years, and was a greeter and did volunteer work at The Heart of Lancaster for ten years. She was an active member of St. John Neumann Church where she managed the baked goods table at the Christmas Bazaar for about 35 years. She also formerly served with the Dominican Monastery Women's Auxillary. She enjoyed needle point, collecting and spending time with her daughters pugs, Frankie and Emma. She was a collector of Royal Doulton and had an extensive collection of over 8,000 Santa Clause figurines. She is survived by her son, Ed, (Ruth Sweeney), daughter Carol (John Eberly) and daughter, Helen (widow of Dr.John Gastaldo), six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. A viewing will be held from9:30 to 10:30 am on Wednesday, October 17 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Relatives and friends are invited to Eleanor's celebration Mass at 11am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Road, Lancaster, PA 17601. Interment will follow at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Masonic Village Hospice, 1 Masonic Dr., Elizabethtown, PA 17022 or St. John Neumann Catholic Church 601 E. Delp Rd, Lancaster, PA 17601. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff of Masonic Village Hospice for the home care that they provided.
