Eileen F. Hurlburt, 67, passed away on April 11, 2016 at Banner Baywood Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona after a short illness. She was born on June 3, 1948 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to parents, Russell S. and Mary E. (Baker) Schober.
Eileen grew up in Lancaster where she lived the majority of her life until she and her husband retired to Arizona in 2011. She graduated from Conestoga Valley High School in Lancaster in 1966.
Eileen began her professional career at Bell Telephone Company, followed by Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, and then for many years with the Department of Labor and Industry for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She concluded her working career as an administrative assistant in the Orthopedic Department of the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center of Pennsylvania State University in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
Eileen married Dale M. Hurlburt of Lancaster in 1977. They would have celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary on April 23rd of this year.
She recently enjoyed volunteering at Brandon Pickett Elementary School, as well as Banner Ironwood Hospital in Arizona. She and her husband, Dale, were members at the Central Christian Church, Arizona, where she also volunteered and helped with the children's ministry.
Eileen enjoyed traveling, particularly to various Caribbean Islands with family and friends. She was an avid shopper and loved searching for jewelry, fashionable clothing, and antiques. She enjoyed movies and loved to read.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband, Dale, of Queen Creek, Arizona; daughter, Lisa Koons (Brian) of Columbia, South Carolina; son, Scott Wormington (Jenn) of Richland, Washington; and stepson, Chad Hurlburt (Christa) of Gilbert, Arizona. Also surviving is her brother, Dale Schober (Debra) of Columbia, Pennsylvania. Eileen has six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Family and friends are invited to greet the family at a viewing at 10:00 am and stay for a service in celebration of Eileen's life at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. Interment in Creswell Cemetery. There will be a reception following interment.
