Edward "Eddie" Soldner , 91, of Lancaster, passed away March 4, 2019 at Masonic Village. Born in Altoona, he was the son of the late John Soldner and Theresa (Binder) Soldner and the husband of Treva M. Soldner who passed on February 28, 2019.
Eddie was a 1947 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School. Following graduation, he worked for Hamilton Watch before enrolling in the U.S. Army. Eddie proudly served in Germany as a Master Sargent during the Korean War. Upon being honorably discharged, he went on to work for his father at Soldner's Café. He worked there for 35 years, succeeding his father as owner. Eddie continued to work as a parts driver for New Holland Ford and Chapman Ford until he was 80 years old. Eddie was a hardworking man. He enjoyed watching sports, both at home and in the stands. He regularly cheered on Villanova basketball, Eagles Football and Phillies and Yankees baseball. Eddie was also a member of a championship winning bocce ball team. A devout Catholic, Eddie was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
Eddie is survived by his four children; Linda Reed and husband Sam of Dunedin, FL, Stephen Soldner and wife Kathy of Mountville, Joseph Soldner and wife Sheila of Lititz, and Mary Klapper-Lehman and husband Jonathan of Lancaster. He is also survived by his sister Verna Dorn, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He joins his beloved wife of 70 years, Treva, in Heaven. He is also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Soldner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 8, 2019 at 11:00am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church located at 601 E. Delp Rd. Lancaster, PA 17601. Guests will be received for a Viewing starting at 10:00am. Following Mass, a luncheon will be held at the church. Interment and Military Honors will be held at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Elizabethtown. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Cloistered Dominican Nuns at Monastery of the Perpetual Rosary at 1834 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601.
