Edward G. Husted, 72, of Lancaster, formerly of Levittown, PA passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Lancaster Regional Medical Center. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Edward Husted and Ann Hiemenz Snyder. Ed was the loving husband to Carol A. Husted for over 44 years.
Ed was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Especially watching his grandchildren play sports. He was an avid sports enthusiast, and enjoyed bowling, baseball and football. He loved his Philadelphia teams. Ed was active in the Mountville Youth Athletic Association and the Special Olympics as a volunteer for many years.
Ed was a meat cutter with Pickwell's Markets in Philadelphia for over 19 years. After a family move to Lancaster in the 1980's, Ed worked for Brown Transmission and Bearing Company in customer service. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife, Carol (Kealey) and mother, Ann Husted Snyder, Ed is survived by 4 sons; Thomas, husband of Doreen (Jenner), of Lancaster, Stephen husband of Carrie (Biagio), of Columbia, Darren, husband of Lori (Noffz), of Landisville, and Eric, of Mountville; a half brother, Joseph Snyder; and six grandchildren: Megan, Brandon, Julia, Ryan, Paige and Sara.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 558 West Walnut Street, Lancaster PA on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 11 AM with Father Michael E. Messner as Celebrant. Family and friends will be received at the church between 10 and 11 AM. Interment will be in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Charles Road, Lancaster Pa. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Ed's memory to the Special Olympics, 1133 19 th Street NW Washington, DC 20036.
