Obituary

Edward Paul Hess, 63, of Lancaster passed from this life on April 23, 2014 surrounded by family. He was the devoted son of Edward S. and Marian E. Hess, the loving husband of Bonnie Hess to whom he had been married for over 21 years, and the adoring father of Jessica Hess, a junior at Westminster Choir College.

Tedd, as he was known to friends and family, was born in Lancaster on August 1, 1950. He graduated from Manheim Township High School, and received a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy from Wheaton College. He went on to earn a Master of Arts in Philosophy from Northern Illinois University in 1978 and a Master of Science in Psychology from Millersville University in 1993.

Tedd was an adjunct professor at Harrisburg Area Community College, Immaculata University, Millersville University, and Penn State University where he taught classes in philosophy and psychology. He started the Philosophy Club at HACC where he also founded and coached the school's Ethics Bowl team. He was especially proud of the team who, this past March, earned fifth place at the national championship held in Chicago. Tedd also worked with private clients as an independent clinical psychotherapist and he helped children and young adults as a behavioral specialist and therapeutic team supervisor at Youth Advocate Program, Inc.

Tedd committed his life to supporting spiritual growth for self and others. To this purpose, he authored the book, "Unisense: The Light that Enlightens Everyone; the Universal Path of Spiritual Healing."

When not working, writing, or meditating, Tedd enjoyed spending time with his family and vacationing at the beach, running, playing tennis, doing lawn work, and tending to his garden.

Tedd will be remembered with love by his wife Bonnie, his daughter Jessica, his stepson Jeremy Madea and wife Wendy, his stepson Dustin Graffa, his stepson Randall Graffa and significant other Ashley Pikolas, his stepson Trevor Graffa, his grandchildren Anastasja, Jordan, Courtney, Katie, Kaia, and Lily, his parents Edward and Marian, his brother Tom, his sister Beckie Thompson and husband John, and countless friends, colleagues, students, and clients. His soft spoken and peaceful presence will be missed by all.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 1:00PM with Rev. Ann Mason officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11-1PM.
