IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edward Anthony
Eisenhower, M.D.
December 29, 2024
On Sunday, December 29, 2024, Edward Anthony Eisenhower, M.D., of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully with family by his side. Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Carl A. and Josephine M. (Kleczek) Eisenhower.
Ed was the husband of Denise D. (Szczurowski) Eisenhower, with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage this past April. They had four children: Amy Humphrey (Jonathan), Beth Fuller (Kirk), Kevin Eisenhower (Danielle), and Mark Eisenhower. He is survived by his grandchildren: Bryce Humphrey, Hannah Humphrey, Carson Humphrey, Brianna Fuller, Tyler Humphrey, Chloe Fuller, Owen Humphrey, Sienna Eisenhower, and Brooklyn Eisenhower. Ed is also survived by his sister, Janet (Eisenhower) Levering.
Ed dedicated his life to the field of medicine and to the well-being of his family. After graduating from Central Catholic High School in Reading, Ed earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Villanova University in 1970, where he was an active member of the Lambda Kappa Delta fraternity. Ed then graduated with his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1974.
After finishing his residency at the Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania, he began working as a pathologist at the St. Joseph Hospital (later Lancaster Regional Medical Center) in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He spent 34 years practicing medicine in Lancaster, many years as the Director of the Lab and owner of Pathology Associates of Lancaster, before retiring in 2013. He was also a clinical assistant professor of pathology at the College of Medicine of Penn State University at Hershey for many years. Ed was passionate and proud to be a devoted blood donor; he received a certificate of acknowledgement for being a 21-gallon donor.
Ed thoroughly enjoyed playing golf. His greatest athletic achievement was hitting two holes in one within a two-week time frame. At the Conestoga Golf Club, he aced No.11, at 150 yards, using a 5 hybrid and at the Lancaster Country Club, he holed No. 6 on the Old Course, at 155 yards, using a 6 hybrid.
Ed was a devout fan of Villanova Basketball as well as a loyal fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, and the 76ers. For the last several years, he had season tickets for Villanova Basketball games and enjoyed taking family and friends with him to cheer the team on. Ed also spent many years as a judge for the Lancaster City & County Medical Society at the annual Franklin & Marshall Science Fair. In his retirement years, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, golfing, bowling, and doing yardwork.
