Obituary

Edmond E. "Ned" Caraway, 95, of Mount Joy and formerly of Lancaster, died Sunday, January 13, 2103, at St. Anne's Retirement Community. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late George A. and Helen Rohr Caraway. Ned's wife of 63 years, Ruth M. Musser Caraway died in 2003.

Following graduation from Lancaster Catholic High School, Technician 5 th Grade Caraway served as a communication lineman in the Army in the Pacific during WWII with the 32 nd Infantry Regiment under General Stilwell's 7 th Division. Following the war Ned worked for PP&L for 40 years, retiring in 1979 as a right of way agent.

A member of Mary Mother of the Church Roman Catholic Parish in Mount Joy, Ned was a former member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. He had been active in Guy's and Doll's with Ruth, was a member of Four Seasons and he owned the former Quarryville Bowling Alley in the early 1960's. An avid golfer, Ned worked part time every summer with sportswriters Oscar Fraley and Mitter Richman for United Press International at the US Open & PGA Golf Championship Tournaments.

Ned is survived by his daughter Sandra A., wife of William E. Nace of Mount Joy, grandson Brent Shaub of Sydney, Australia and step-grandson Justin Nace of Phillipsburg, NJ.

Private Services and Burial will take place at the family's convenience in Conestoga Memorial Park. Please omit flowers.
