Edith A. Howell Haughwout a resident of Ephrata Manor, formerly of Mountaintop, PA and Lititz, PA, passed away July 18, 2018 at the age of 92. Born in Huntsville, PA, she was the daughter of the late David Howell and Edith L. Cordick. Edith was the loving wife to the late Frederick Allan Haughwout of Trucksville, PA for 65 years. Edith was a graduate of Kingston Township High School, class of 1943 as Valedictorian. She was awarded a 4-year scholarship to College Misericordia from which she graduated Cum Laude in 1947. Edith taught 27 years in public high schools in Pennsylvania, which included 1 year at Blainsburg, PA and 26 years in Crestwood School District, Mountaintop. She was a member of Lititz United Methodist Church and participated in many of its volunteer activities. Surviving are 2 sons: David Haughwout, husband of Karen, of Frederick, MD and John Haughwout, husband of Peggy, of Palmyra, PA; 2 daughters: Carol Carper, wife of Ken, of Naples, FL and Judith Ranck, wife of David, of Ephrata, PA; 5 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, 2 great-granddaughters and 2 great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers: Kenneth, William Harry, David and Burton; and 2 sisters: Doris Shone Matthews of MA and Fern Sabol of Trucksville, PA. A viewing will be from 9-10 AM with a Funeral Service to begin at 10 AM on Monday, July 23, 2018 at the Donecker Chapel at Ephrata Manor, 99 Bethany Rd, Ephrata, PA 17522. Edith will be laid to rest beside her husband in Memory Gardens, Ephrata. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Edith's memory to Lititz United Methodist Church, Building Fund, 201 Market St, Lititz, PA 17543.
