Edith F. "Edie" Tennis, 89, of Lititz, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2024. Born in Ephrata, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Ellen (Faus) Bollinger. She was married to Donald L. Tennis prior to his untimely passing in 1993.
Edie was a graduate of Ephrata High School. She was a dedicated homemaker and adored her large and loving family. She was a 70+ year member of Lititz Church of the Brethren where she participated in the Friendship Sunday School Class, and she was also a former member of the Lititz Women's Club. Edie enjoyed family time at her beach house in OCNJ, traveling, cooking and baking, and in earlier years, golfing. She was blessed with many dear, life-long friends, many of whom she shared and enjoyed church, family, travel, Green Pastures, luncheons, and more. Edie is affectionately remembered for her unwavering faith and strength, and will be sorely missed.
A beloved mother, Grandma, Tutu, Granny, and more, Edie is survived by her 4 children: Brenda Eshelman (Jeffrey), Jeffrey Tennis (Jane Chandler), Brett Tennis (Cheryl Martin), and Karen Gerdes (George); 10 grandchildren: Sarah Sell (Brian), Berk Gerdes, Elisa Rodriguez (Joe), Heather Chivinski (Brandon), Ashley Tennis, Leah Richardson (Alan), Lindsay Gabers (Ryan), Kent Gerdes, Lauren Knisely (Devin), and Lisa Tkach (John); 13 great-grandchildren, and beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her 3 siblings: Walter Bollinger, Harry Bollinger, and Elva Bomberger.
A memorial service will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Lititz Church of the Brethren, 300 W. Orange St, Lititz, PA 17543, with no visitation prior. The family will receive guests from 4-6 PM with light refreshments. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Donald Tennis Memorial Fund at Lititz COB, 300 W. Orange St, Lititz, PA, 17543.
