Edgar M. Shugars, Jr., 93, of Lancaster passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at the Coatesville VA Hospice Center. Born in Baltimore, MD he was the son of the late Edgar M. Shugars, Sr. and Verna (Rineer) Shugars. He was the husband of the late Geraldine T. Shugars who passed away in 1978. He worked as a machinist for the Thompson Corp. for many years. Edgar was a charter member of the Community United Methodist Church in Lancaster. Edgar was an avid Baltimore Orioles baseball fan. He proudly served in the US Army during WWII and was a member of the Millersville VFW Post 7294. Edgar is survived by three daughters, Virginia Lawrence wife of David of Lancaster, Denise Bishop wife of Rick of Marietta, Tina Derr wife of Robert of Lancaster; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Virginia Shugars, Richard Shugars and Vivian Diesley. A Viewing will be held from 10-11AM with a Funeral Service to follow on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Edgar will be laid to rest beside his wife, Geraldine, at St. Joseph's New Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Edgar's memory may be made to Coatesville VA, Building 5, Ground Floor, 1400 Blackhorse Hill Rd, Coatesville, PA 19320.
