Edgar H. Shaffer, Jr., 78, of New Providence, died Thursday June 11, 2009 at Hospice of Lancaster County Mount Joy Center.

Born in Philadelphia, Edgar was the son of the late Edgar H. Sr. and Stella H. (Klos) Shaffer.  He was the husband of the late Phyllis (Vaughn) Shaffer.

Edgar served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Edgar was employed as a tool and die maker and machinist at University of Pennsylvania.  He loved photography and astronomy, and traveling.

Edgar is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Hamed of New Providence, three grandchildren, Jennifer Foreacre, wife of Daniel, Yusef Hamed, and Amr Hamed, two greatgrandchildren, Alyssa and Ryan Foreacre, and brother, Richard Shaffer.

He was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Shaffer.

A Memorial Service will be held at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 8 AM.  Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA at 10 AM with military honors. To send an online condolence, visit www.snyderfuneralhome.com.
