Earl N. Hummel, 84, of Luther Acres, Lititz, and formerly of Landisville, passed away at Hospice of Lancaster County Essa Flory Center on Sunday, November 20, 2011. He was born in Fremont, OH to the late Earl N. and Lula (Hall) Hummel and grew up in Clyde, OH.
Earl is survived by his wife, Doris J. (Slapak) Hummel, of Luther Acres. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last March 17.
He graduated from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, OH.
Earl retired from Micro Precision after a long career in Plant Management in the Bearings Industry.
He was an active member of Landisville Church of God and taught Sunday school.
He served in the US Army in the WWII era and was in Germany after the war.
Earl was a longtime and active member in the East Petersburg Rotary Club, Lancaster Rotary Club, and Dunedin North, FL Rotary Club. He served as Assistant Scout Master for many years. He also was past President and board member of the Hempfield School District. He enjoyed family and world traveling with the Friendship Force, wood carving, bridge, and fishing.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are three sons, David A. Hummel, husband of Giang T. Nham, of Manheim, Douglas E. Hummel, husband of Candice, of Land-O-Lakes, FL, Ronald E. Hummel, husband of Karen L., of Lititz, and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, William L. Hummel and Andrea, and a sister, Lois Lindley.
Celebration of Life Services will be held on Friday, November 25, 2011 at 2pm at Landisville Church of God 171 Church St. Landisville, PA 17538 with The Rev. Barry Sellers and Robert Bistline officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 1-2pm. Interment will be in the Landisville Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County 685 Good Dr. PO Box 4125 Lancaster, PA 17604 or Landisville Church of God.
