IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Douglas W.
“Dougie” Klugh
March 25, 2025
Douglas W. "Dougie" Klugh, 89, Lititz, passed away at home on March 25, right where he always wanted to be, by his wife's side. Born March 30, 1935, in Lancaster, he was the son of Ruth Arlene Klugh Phillips. He was the loving and dedicated husband of 68 years to Arlene (Caulwell) Klugh.
Doug graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School in 1953. He proudly served in the Air Force from 1954-1958. His love for aircraft was reflected in his many trips to air shows. It was during his time in the Air Force that he married Arlene, and they began their married life in New Jersey before moving to Lancaster, and then to Lititz. After retiring as Branch Manager of Yesco in Lancaster, Doug continued working as a purchaser for Lapp Electric and then Haller Enterprises.
Sources of his enjoyment were playing and watching sports, rooting for Philadelphia sports teams (especially the Phillies), watching old western entertainment, and devouring food. That man could eat! He also spoiled many pets through the years as his love of animals was evident. He continues to help animals through the donation of his pacemaker to Pittsburgh Veterinary Cardiology to be placed in a dog.
Many will remember Doug's profound sense of humor along with his infectious laugh. Although his light-hearted jokes were a key part of how he carried himself, his civility and kind demeanor were, by far, the most resounding attributes that people will remember. He was described by many as a really good guy.
"Till the end of time Long as stars are in the blue Long as there's a spring, a bird to sing I'll go on loving you"
Doug is survived by his wife Arlene, son Brian Klugh (wife Nancy) and their two children Eileen and Logan, son Brad Klugh, and daughter Brenda Klugh-Buccilla and her two children Connor (fiancé Lauren) and Mason (wife Kristina). He is also survived by his brother-in-law Ronald Caulwell. He was preceded in death by his mother, brother Donald Klugh, and sister Corliss Kirsch.
The family would like to thank Hospice and Community Care for their expertise, compassion, and exceptional care for Doug during his final weeks. We would also like to thank Dr. David Somerman for always treating Doug with dignity and humor.
Public visitation will be held at Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA on Friday, April 11, from 5-6 pm. A private funeral will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. Doug will be interred at Riverview Memorial Park with Veteran's honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to a veteran, children, or animal charity of your choice.
