Obituary

Dorthea Elaine (Seals) Alexander, affectionately known as "Tweet", 61, of Lancaster, was called to glory on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at home with her daughters by her bedside. Born in Lancaster on August 2, 1960, she was the daughter of the late Rebecca Ann Seals, and the late Luther Hunter. Dorthea was the loving wife of the late Lamont Fontaine Alexander, and they shared 14 years of marriage at the time of his passing in July, 2016.

Dorthea graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School, and was a member of Bright Side Baptist Church since May of 1985. She was very active in the Narcotics Anonymous (N.A.) Chapter of Lancaster for over 30 years, where she was loved by many, provided much support to those in need, and was very resourceful to newcomers to the Lancaster N.A.

A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Dorthea will be sadly missed by her children, Shonda Seals, Carin Seals, Ryan Seals, and Journi Sanchez, all of Lancaster, and Monique Seals of Columbia. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; her siblings: Danita Dillard (Willie), Claudette Seals, Richard Seals (Camelia), and Milford Springer, all of Lancaster, Charlene Seals of Baltimore, MD, Kizzy Regina Brown, High Point, NC, Ronald Thompson of Newport News, VA, Dorothy Lewis (Andrew) of Chesterfield, VA, and Gloria Thompson of Petersburg, VA; her step-mother Audrey Hunter; her uncle, Robert Hardwick, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She is also survived by her sisters of love: Carmen Polite, Beverly Shepheard, Kysha Word, Tiffany Key, Dianne Key, whom she affectionately called "mom", Freda Hall, Melinda Allen, and her special daughter and friend, Kimberly Byers.

She was preceded in death by her son, Brandon Seals, her siblings, Trenton, Karen, and Crystal Seals, Marquita Myers and Adrianne Springer, and her maternal grandmother, Modestine Marzan.

The angels rejoiced as God greeted our "Queen Bee", commending her for a life well lived; a race finished and a job well done. Farewell to the Queen! She is gone from this world but her spirit will forever reign with us.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Shyam Balepur and The Green Team for the exceptional care given to Dorthea during her illness.

Home Going Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, March 4, 2022, at Bright Side Baptist Church, 515 Hershey Avenue, Lancaster, PA, 17603, where a viewing will take place from 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM. Interment will follow services at Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery, Lancaster.

For those wishing to assist the family financially, contributions in Dorthea's name may be made at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 East King Street, Lancaster, PA, or by calling 717-393-9661.
