Dorothy W. Whallon, 87, of Lancaster went home to The Lord on Saturday August 9, 2008.
Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Herman L. Sr. and Anna Krushinsky Walzl.
Dorothy had worked as a secretary at First Presbyterian Church of Lancaster for over 25 years. Prior to this, she had worked as a secretary at Armstrong Cork Co.
She was a devout member of St. Leo The Great Catholic Church.
Dorothy was a 1938 graduate of the first coed class at McCaskey High School, where she was a synchronized swimmer. She was a devoted mother, a wonderful cook, and enjoyed spending time with her family. She also loved the beach, especially Ocean City, NJ, was an avid Phillies phan and enjoyed playing bridge with her friends.
Dorothy is survived by her sons: Lawrence R. married to Linda, Hasting, NE, Geoffrey L. married to Barbara, Leola, and Mark S. married to Suzanne, Lancaster. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Rick, Traci, Teri, Stephanie, Kristen, Robin, Cori, Michelle, and Brian; and by her great grandchildren: Sammantha, Brooklyn, Geofferson, Raygon, Ashlyn, Emma, Brianna, and Makenzie. She is survived by her two sisters, Janet Martin and Patricia Krimmel, both of Lancaster. She was preceded in death by her brother, Herman L. Walzl, Jr.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 10-11am at St. Leo The Great Catholic Church, 2427 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, PA, with the Mass to follow at 11am, the Rev. Peter Hahn as Celebrant. Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Drive, P.O.Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
