Dorothy A. Ritchie, 101, of United Zion Retirement Community, Lititz, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. Born in Hummelstown, PA she was the daughter of the late William and Gertrude (Williams-Richards) Reinhart. She was the loving wife of the late John H. Ritchie, who died in 1977. Dorothy was the ultimate family matriarch. She loved her children and grandchildren and took pride in their accomplishments. She had a special way of making each one feel so special. She would plan a special day for each grandchild and would make afghans for all members of her family. Mrs. Ritchie loved the Lord. She was a faithful member of Grace Evangelical Congregational Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She will be remembered by many as a strong Christian woman. Dorothy loved to write poetry. She also had a witty sense of humor that always had others laughing. Surviving are her children, Rebecca, wife of Richard Smith, of Charleston, WV, Jack Ritchie, husband of Kathy, of Arkansas, and Michael Ritchie, husband of Janet, of Manheim; 16 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great grandchildren, a sister, Helen Thompson and son in law, Pete Hecker of Ephrata. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Geralyn Hecker, two sisters and one brother. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 11AM from the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Interment will be in Hummelstown Cemetery. Friends will be received from 10-11AM at the funeral home on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy's memory to United Zion Retirement Community, 722 Furnace Hills Pike, Lititz, PA 17543.
