Dorothy J. Mann, 90, of Lancaster, passed away, Monday, January 19, 2009 at Mennonite Nursing Home. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late John r. and Lillian I. (Shaub) Jeffries. She was the wife of the late Robert H. Mann, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage prior to his death in 1998.

She graduated from Stevens High School in mid 1937. Prior to her marriage she worked for Science Press and later, Lancaster Press as a proofreader. She served as a "Gray Lady" volunteer at Lancaster General Hospital and later became a private secretary fro the late Dr. Edgar J. Stein. She also did volunteer work with the Better Business Bureau. A music lover and charter member of the Red Rose City Chapter of Sweet Adelines, singing in both the chorus and quartets became her chief enjoyment.

She is survived by a daughter, Judith wife of William Allen of Sun Lakes, AZ, two nieces, one nephew and several cousins.

A private memorial service will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home 441 N. George St. Millersville 17551.
