Dorothy "Dottie" M. Bechtel, 89, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center. Dottie was a resident of Lancashire Terrace. She was the wife of the late Kenneth W. Bechtel who passed away in 2011. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Warren W. and Marguerite E. (Erich) Metzger. Dorothy, a homemaker, was a member of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church. She and her husband loved to travel together and were former members of the Holiday Rambler Recreational Vehicle Club and Chapter 257 Red Rose Ramblers. Dorothy is survived by her 4 sons: David R. Bechtel, husband of Nancy of Lancaster, James K. Bechtel, husband of Jeanette of Bunnell, FL, Thomas W. Bechtel of Lancaster, and Peter A. Bechtel, husband of Maryann of Millersville; her 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her 3 brothers: Richard Metzger, Robert Metzger, and John "Jack" Metzger. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543, with Rev. Bruce Sellers officiating. Visitation will be held from 12 to 1PM. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dorothy's memory may be made to Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, 322 Hershey Ave, Lancaster, PA 17603.
